The three names I picked for this brief were Philip Larkin, Yoshiro Nakamatsu and Erno Goldfinger.
I had a bit of a read of Philip Larkin's poetry and a brief look into him as a guy but found there was so much that I thought I might struggle to narrow my ideas down. I was tempted to choose Yoshiro Nakamatsu, he is a funny character with lots of interesting quirks, but settled on Goldfinger as I straight away began to recognise a clear aesthetic, and some more obvious starting points.
I feel like that's maybe a little bit of a lazy reason, but i also did just seem to find myself naturally gravitating more towards Goldfinger than :Larkin or Nakamatsu. I didn't make it too much of a conscious decision.
